As a photographer I shoot what I see. I see more than most. I am too old and wise to choose a 'style'. When I am in botanical gardens I use my macro lens. When I am sitting on a bus or floating down a river, I use my telephoto. In a city I am a street photographer, on a hike I am a nature photographer.

I became a serious amateur nearly ten years ago. Before that cameras were too technical and complicated. Film and processing were too expensive. Digital photography changed everything.

I took some excellent photos with point and shoots. Notice I used the plural, because they did not last very long. The breaking point was in China in June 2006. The entire country was in a perpetual haze. Some research  convinced me that I needed a DSLR so that I could use filters. Eventually I purchased a macro and a 55-300 mm telephoto. My first DSLR was a Nikon D50 and last year I purchased a D90.

Unlike many bloggers I have been a professional writer and don't particularly need any publicity or fame. I hope to discuss concisely the experiences I have as a single woman of late middle age. I travel because I can still experience a childlike wonder. I shoot because my wisdom tells me what I need to communicate.
